Nutrition and mealtimes
We provide children with a variety of healthy foods, and cater for children with allergies and intolerances
SDN Milperra, located within the grounds of Milperra Public School, provides early childhood education and child care for 60 children from birth to school age.
When your child joins SDN Milperra, they will be taking part in an educational play-based, program which is built on their interests. From super-heroes to dinosaurs, we believe that children learn best when the topic interests them. You can learn more about our educational program here.
Our educators are known for being warm and friendly, and they are easy to talk to. They always listen to what families have to say and they respect each family’s individual beliefs.
Our central dining room provides an open space for children to enjoy nutritious meals cooked onsite. The open set up encourages interaction between our cook and our children, and older children are encouraged to help with serving meals.
The NSW Department of Education has assessed SDN Milperra against the National Quality Standard, and our centre is rated as ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standard’.
What our families say...
“What I like best is the healthy food!”
“The staff are friendly and have been very patient with my son.”
“I love the fact that the rooms are small with a homely feeling.”
SDN acknowledges the traditional owners of the land now known as Milperra.
SDN Milperra opened for operation on 30 April 2012 in the grounds of the Milperra Public School in Western Sydney. An official opening soon followed on 1 August 2012, attended by families and local community including the Bankstown Mayor and a representative from Bankstown City Council Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Committee. The Hon Peter Garrett AM, MP, then Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth, unveiled the centre’s plaque and received a beautiful painting from the children.
SDN Milperra is the result of our organisation’s goal to grow in areas where we already have a presence. In 2010 we successfully applied for a Federal Government grant of $1.6 million to strengthen our service in Western Sydney with a new Children’s Education and Care Centrein Milperra.
Since its beginnings, SDN Milperra has reflected a strong connection with the families in this vibrant and diverse community.
